Team Nuggets Breaks Through Again With Major Italian Network deal

Serious Kids has secured another major broadcast deal with RAI in Italy for both Season 1 and Season 2 of  ‘Team Nuggets’. Targeted at 5-8 year olds, the gender neutral comedy series will air on RAI Yoyo and launch as a box set on RaiPlay on May 1st 2026.

Serious Kids also recently announced a deal with ZDF/Kika in Germany and RTVE in Spain and another new deal has just been closed with Midolala for China.  All of this adding  to the previously announced deals with NRK, SVT, YLE (Swedish service), RUV, Czech TV, RTV Slovenia, RTBF Belgium and RTS Switzerland.

Serious Kids Picks Up Taste Buddies

Serious Kids has acquired the worldwide content distribution and merchandising rights, excluding Spain, Finland and Ireland, to Pikkukala, Dibulitoon and Ink and Light’s Taste Buddies.

The series follows 6-year-old Leo, who spends a lot of quality time in the kitchen with his parents and grandmother. Leo lives up to the family’s motto of “eat the rainbow” with the help of five Taste Buddies.

Taste Buddies has been commissioned by RTVE, 3Cat, RTEJr, and Yle.

Serious Kids Sends Irish Live-Action Series To France

France Télévisions has acquired the rights to the live-action miniseries The Unreal, which has been renewed by RTÉ for a second season, from Serious Kids.

“This miniseries is a great addition to our slate of live action available on our platform Okoo, aimed at the older segment of our audience,” said Claire Heinrich, director of acquisitions for children’s content at France Télévisions.

Spanish pubcaster RTVE’s Clan joins Team Nuggets in season one pick-up

Team Nuggets will air on Clan this spring. As well as DR and Canal+, it is currently airing on Norway’s NRK, Sweden’s SVT, Iceland’s RÙV, Svenska YLE in Finland, Czech TV in the Czech Republic, RTV in Slovenia, RTBF in Belgium and Switzerland’s RTS.

A second season of Team Nuggets has begun pre-production, while DR and Danish publishing house Gutkind have also produced a series of books based on the show’s characters.

Italy’s Rai picks up Studio Ghibli’s Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter anime series

Italian pubcaster Rai has acquired Japanese anime house Studio Ghibli’s Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter series 

from Serious Kids, which holds worldwide distribution rights to the show outside Japan and the Nordics. It will air on Rai Gulp and Rai Play in autumn 2025.

Rai has also acquired the two-hour movie edit of Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter.

Serious Kids to Distribute BBC Children's My Life

Serious Kids has been appointed as the worldwide distributor for a selection of films from the CBBC My Life series and will present them at MIPJunior.

Alongside Big Deal Films, Drummer TV and Nine Lives Media, BBC Children’s and Education and Serious Kids have worked together to curate a collection of films from the last 15 years, packaged to be available to the international market for the first time.

Channel 5 commissions Treehouse for Milkshake!

In a deal brokered by distributor Serious Kids, UK broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned London-based RD Studios to produce a live-action/animated/puppet preschool show called Treehouse (30 x seven minutes) that will premiere in its Milkshake! preschool block sometime next year.

Serious Kids moves into Sky Kids’ Happy Town

London-based children’s content distributor Serious Kids has secured the global sales rights, excluding the UK, to preschool animated series Happy Town (50×7’), produced by Happy Town Productions for Sky Kids in the UK.

Set to air in 2025, the series was created by ex-Cartoon Network exec James Fox (Skatoony) and stars Mel B of Spice Girls fame in her first kids’ show, alongside newcomer Zahra Bew. Animation services are provided by Salford-based Flix Animation.

Serious Kids to take Style It Out worldwide

The kid-friendly series about aspiring young designers working with sustainable clothing launched on CBBC in January.

British distributor Serious Kids has entered an agreement with London’s Lion Television to expand the latter’s fashion-centric series Style It Out (11 x 30') around the world.

In addition to distributing the series globally, Serious Kids has also secured the rights to sell the show’s format to international producers for localized spinoffs.
